This list will include only those with release dates/window in 2021. Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 could come out in 2021 but we don’t know that for sure. All we got is it’s coming. Now the games in this list could be delayed but as of writing this that is their dates and window. I will play every game listed here on Twitch then uploaded on YouTube.
10. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Developers: Traveller’s Tales
Publisher: Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment
In A Galaxy Far Far Away there were LEGOs, LEGOs as far as the eye can see. A child, me, was in love. And I haven’t touch LEGOs or their games since then. And it is a damn shame because I heard nothing but great things about the games. Back in my day, LEGOs didn’t have voice acting, they were grunting and oofing. So it is wild to see not only voice acting but these amazing visuals. They are incredible and love how they make fun of themselves and the movies. It makes fun of itself because at the end of the trailer when Papa Palpatine was shooting his lightning it was the real LEGO version. Then came the amazing lightning effects. And what gets me more excited is that this LEGO STAR WARS. I like Star Wars, I watch all the movies, saw some of the animated series, and play a few games here and there. I am more than an average fan, I guess. My one hope for the game is that it includes characters, not in the movies like Ahoska, Bo-Katan, Thrawn, Fives, other Clone Trooper, and Ezra with his crew. I know there is DLC for Mandalorian, Rogue One, Solo, and The Bad Batch, but what about the animated series man!!!! I love the characters in there. I just have to wait and see and play-through. The Let’s Play will be upload on my YouTube channel.
9. Little Nightmares II – February 11th
Developer: Tarsier Studios
Publisher: Bandi Namco
My first ever Let’s Play on my YouTube channel was the first Little Nightmares. If you wanna know the story you can check out my Let’s Play or play the game yourself. It is a short game, you can beat it in 3-4 hours. If you want a base overview of the game, then keep on reading. The story is you are a girl on a boat trying to escape adult oppression and abuse. Every adult is visualized through the mind of the child thus making them look like monsters because they are monsters. As you go through the ship you piece together the mystery and learn more about the world. And it is not a happy one. Now I could also be wrong with my interpretation because the game doesn’t tell you anything. You merely walk left to right trying to survive. Now my only gripe about the game is the controls. They were abysmal, I could see why they are bad because it adds to the tension when being chased but it doesn’t make me tense just angry at the game.
8. The Medium – January 28th
Developer and Publisher: Bloober Team
I do not know a lot about this game other than what is shown from the trailer. It looks dope and terrifying. I am a big horror fan so this piqued my interest real fast. A medium going through a demonic world dealing with unique monsters that will haunt your dreams. What is not to love there. Also learned from research that Akira Tamaoka, former composer and sound designer for Silent Hill, will work on The Medium’s music. Another bonus is it’s on Xbox Game Pass so I do not have to buy it. Thank you Xbox for saving my wallet.
7. Returnal – March 19th
Developer: Housemarque
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
This game looks super fun, and scary. You are fighting weird cosmic entities while stuck in a time loop. I am intrigued by the mystery of who is this woman, and where are we? The gameplay is fast-paced and intense, just the way I like my shooters. Using a variety of equipment to aid you against different enemies. It looks beautiful and I trust the developers. They created the best launch title of the last generation, Resogun.
6. Persona 5 Strikers – February 23rd
Developers: Omega Force and P-Studio
Publisher: Atlus
Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal are fantastic Japanese Role Playing Games that you should play because Persona 5 Strikers is the direct sequel to Persona 5. To recap, you are playing as a teenage boy, the leader of The Phantom Thieves of Hearts, who steals the hearts of corrupt adults to make them good. Along the way, you meet other trouble teenagers in need to rebel and transform themselves into their true selves. And that is half of the game, the other half is going through life as an average student, making deals with confidants to aid your Phantom thievery. While in Strikers, all I know is the story continues and a new threat emerges. The gameplay is completely different. P5 is turn-based, while Strikers is a hack and slash RPG. you will fight hordes of enemies at once. I am super excited to play this style of gameplay known as “Musou” and to see where the story will lead us.
5. Stray
Developer: Bluetwelve
Publisher: Annapurna Interactive
You play as a cat in a world of robots. I don’t know what else to tell you, because that is all I can tell you about it. I know that it is a third-person solo adventure game, you are a cat, and you are surrounded by robots. It is the mystery and uniqueness of the game that made me so fascinated with it. You play as a cat!! I don’t know a lot of games where you see the world from the perspective of a cat. From another white man, seen that plenty of times. Not saying that there aren’t games that you don’t play as other animals, because there a ton. Untitled Goose Game, Goat Simulator, and Ape Out are a few that come to mind. But, those are action, mayhem, comedy based games. You play as an animal look at how kooky this game is. With Stray, it seems more serious with world-building in mind. Learning how these robots go about their daily life, where are the humans, do these robots care and how do they feel about it all. This society of robots how does it all function. I want to know and dive into this world the developer has made.
4. GhostWire: Tokyo
Developer: Tango Gameworks
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
There really is one main reason why I am very excited about this game, it is the developer. The developer created two of my favorite games of all time. They created The Evil Within and The Evil Within 2. Both fantastic survival horror games, one of which I played on my channel. Check it out here. GhostWire: Tokyo is a departure from their other games, this one takes more towards action than survival. I am not complaining because I trust the developers. I just wished for more The Evil Within, but I can feel that this game is going to be great. The enemy’s design looks spooky, the gameplay looks fun, and still has horror elements.
3. Resident Evil: Village
Developer and Publisher: Capcom
It is incredible that this franchise has lasted so long. It is even more incredible that the franchise was revitalized after Resident Evil 7 came out. Before Capcom has been releasing nothing but garbage messes and I am talking about throughout their company. But now, they are back babyyy. This one looks like it is going to be a banger. What with Ethan and Chris Redfield back again with Ethan as the main character. Give me more survival horror!!!!!! Give me something that’ll make me pee my pants! Going to have the lights turn off for this one.
2. Horizon Forbidden West
Developer: Guerrilla Games
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
The most beautiful game that I have laid eyes on is getting a sequel. If you have not played the first game, you should change that. You play as Aloy, a fierce huntress of the Nora tribe solving the mystery of a world filled with animal-like machines. Figuring out who Aloy is and where she comes from because she was found in the relics of human structures before them. Meeting amazing characters that you will bond with, helping your fellow human to survive, and slaying a giant T-Rex machine that has missiles. How can you not want to play this? The world is filled with LORE and mystery. Figuring out what happens to Earth is spectacular. I got immerse in the world and its history.
1. God of War Ragnarök
Developer: Santa Monica Studios
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
God of War is my favorite franchise of all time. Played through all the main series of the franchise and love every single one of them. God of War on the PS4 is my favorite game from the last generation of consoles. The bond between Kratos (Father) and Atreus (Son) was incredible. The journey they went through was an emotional and action-filled roller coaster. Epic moments that leave me in awe every time I play it. The combat is fun and dynamic. The more you bond with Atreus, the more comfortable he gets in combat. And the final fight was glorious. It really is the perfect game for me. The best thing about the game is there is no doom ending event that you must stop, you are just a father with his son spreading his mother’s ashes on the highest mountain. But of course, it is a video game, so trouble awaits you and you learn more about your mother and the world they live in. God, I can not wait for this. Imma do the same as I did when God of War (PS4) came out. Play all day and night with zero sleep.
Special Mentions
This list is in no particular order.
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut – March
Developer and Publisher: ZA/UM
I would have put this on the list easily, but it is not a brand new game. This is the Director’s Cut, the Extended Cut, the Final Cut of Disco Elysium that released on October 15, 2019. This new version includes new quests, improved playability, and full voice acting. The voice acting is a huge addition because there is a lot of reading. You play as an amnesic detective trying to solve a murder mystery. Now here is the kicker, in most RPGs there is a form of combat not in this one. There is no combat, instead, events are resolved through skill checks (rolling dices) and dialog options you have from your character skills, ideologies, and personality trait. You can fully create your character however you like, he could be a communist drunk powerhouse or a gay moralist hobocop. If you would like to check out more about the game, I have done a Let’s Play of the game.
Guilty Gear Strive
Developer and Publisher: Arc System Works
I really want to put a fighting game on the list. I enjoy playing them even though I am complete garbage. I am interested in this game and will eventually get it but not day 1. It looks hype as hell and seems fun but I would like to play online as well. For those who do not know, Japanese fighting game developers typically design their online code, netcode, on delay-based netcode. The basic is delay-based netcode is bad because it doesn’t account for network fluctuations. While roll-back solves it. This article goes more into detail and will explain basically everything you need to know. I hope this game has a roll-back netcode like Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid. I have a blast playing that game, finding games quickly and with no lag. It’s great.
Back 4 Blood – June 22nd
Developer: Turtle Rock Studios
Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
The developer are the same ones that made Left 4 Dead. An incredible co-op zombie game, where you and 3 friends fight hordes of zombies through various maps. This was my childhood, that and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, I played Left 4 Dead for hours and made great friends. It was my first introduction to online multiplayer and Xbox Live. So I am excited to see it come back, granted a different name but it is a spiritual successor. The only problem is Turtle Rock Studios also made Evolve. A co-op first-person shooter where you fight giant monsters. It wasn’t that great or interesting. There weren’t tons of monsters to fight, at the start, there were only two. Plus there was an excessive amount of DLC and the game was priced at $59.99. That to me turned me off from it. Also, it seemed like it was going to be a huge grind fest to get the upgrades. I really wanted it to feel like an arcade. Jump in with set skills and abilities and ready to fight the monster in crazy, super unique maps. But seeing streams and gameplay, Left 4 Dead is back. I hope for more characters, and in general more constant updates on the game.
